Our estates consultancy services are headed up by Ralph Hilton. As a Chartered Building Surveyor, and a Fellow of the R.I.C.S. (Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors), Ralph has extensive experience in surveys of buildings and the preparation of Condition Reports for purposes of due diligence in the purchase or new management of buildings, and also in devising Planned Maintenance Programmes for budget-efficient maintenance and repairs on properties of all types and sizes.
Qualifying with a commended BSc. degree in Building Surveying from Liverpool Polytechnic, he began his career working for Povall Worthington, a well- established private firm of consultant building surveyors and architects, carrying out building surveys and diagnostics.
He was then employed by John Smith’s Tadcaster brewery, responsible for capital works to, and maintenance of, over 100 public houses, and where he gained the qualification of ARICS, i.e. Associate of the R.I.C.S, enabling the title of ‘Chartered Building Surveyor’.
Moving to Edmund Kirby, another well-established multi-disciplinary construction consultancy firm in Liverpool he undertook maintenance surveys for Barclays Bank, among other clients. He also provided architectural services for alterations and building conversions and also began his involvement in Construction Project Management works.
He was later appointed as North West Regional Building Surveyor for the Prudential Corporation as part of their Property Services team, working from St Helens, and covering the North of England and North Wales. He not only looked after the Prudential’s own property but serviced a variety of clients in all aspects of Building Surveying, Architecture and Project Management.
Since then he has been an independent consultant Building Surveyor, gaining his ‘Fellowship’ of the RICS. He has been involved in alterations, repairs, and improvements to a number of schools and sixth form colleges across the North of England.
